How to change oil filter and engine oil on OPEL ASTRA H Saloon [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: engine oil and filter – Opel Astra H saloon. Tip from AUTODOC:
- Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
- Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
- Please note: all work on the car – Opel Astra H saloon – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the hood.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Unscrew the oil filler plug.
- Step 4Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 5Unscrew the filter housing cap together with the old filter element. Use a drive socket #24. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 6Prepare a container for the old oil filter.Step 7Put the old filter cartridge in the container.
- Step 8Cover the oil filter housing with a microfibre towel to prevent dirt and foreign objects from getting into the system.Step 9Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.AUTODOC recommends:The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.
- Step 10Put a waste oil container with at least 5 l capacity under the drainage hole.
- Step 11Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 12Unscrew the drain plug. Use Torx T45. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Drain the used oil.Replacement: engine oil and filter – Opel Astra H saloon. AUTODOC recommends:Caution! The oil may be hot.
- Step 14Detach the oil filter from the filter cover.Step 15Remove the oil filter cover O-ring. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 16Clean the oil filter housing cap. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 17Install a new O-ring to its mounting seat on the filter cover.
- Step 18Install a new oil filter.Please note!Make sure to install the filter correctly. Don't mix up the sides of the part.Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.
- Step 19Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole.
- Step 20Screw in the new drainage plug and tighten it. Use Torx T45. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 14 nm torque.
- Step 21Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
