Replacement: brake drum – VW POLO Coupe (86C, 80). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Replace the brake drums on VW POLO Coupe (86C, 80) in pair for the rear axle. Disregarding the parts state. It ensures even braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left brake drums on the same axle.
- When replacing the brake drums, be sure to also change the brake shoes.
- Please note: all work on the car – VW POLO Coupe (86C, 80) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW POLO Coupe (86C, 80)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Remove the wheel hub nut cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
- Step 7Remove the cotter pin securing the hub nut. Use a crowbar. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 8Unscrew the hub nut. Use a drive socket #30. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the fastening nut.
- Step 10Remove the brake drum assembled with the wheel hub bearing.
- Step 11Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 12Install the new brake drum assembled with the wheel hub bearing.
