AUTODOC recommends:
- Replace the brake drums on SEAT IBIZA II (6K1) in pair for the rear axle. Disregarding the parts state. It ensures even braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the right and left brake drums on the same axle.
- When replacing the brake drums, be sure to also change the brake shoes.
- Please note: all work on the car – SEAT IBIZA II (6K1) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Engage the parking brake lever. - Step 2
Loosen the parking brake cable. Use a combination spanner #10. - Step 3Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 4
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 5Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 6
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. SEAT IBIZA II (6K1) - Step 7
Remove the wheel. - Step 8
Clean the brake drum. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 9
Remove the wheel hub nut cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer. - Step 10
Remove the cotter pin securing the hub nut. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer. - Step 11
Unscrew the hub nut. Use a drive socket #24. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 12
Remove the brake drum assembled with the wheel hub bearing. - Step 13
Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray. - Step 14
Treat the wheel hub in the area where it contacts the brake drum. Use a multipurpose grease. - Step 15
Install the new brake drum assembled with the wheel hub bearing. - Step 16
Install the wheel.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts. SEAT IBIZA II (6K1) - Step 17
Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
