Replacement: air filter – Mini R50, R53. Follow the maintenance schedule, recommendations, and requirements specified by the manufacturer.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: air filter – Mini R50, R53. Take the following steps:
Step 1
Open the bonnet.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Loosen the clamp and remove the intake air hose from the filter housing. Use a drive socket #6. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 4
Undo the fastening screws of the air filter cover. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 5
Take off the filter lid.
Replacement: air filter – Mini R50, R53. AUTODOC experts recommend:
Remove the part vertically with respect to the engine cover.
Step 6
Remove the filter element from the filter housing.
Step 7
Clean the air filter cover and housing.
Replacement: air filter – Mini R50, R53. Tip:
Before cleaning the air filter cover and housing, cover the air duct parts, mass airflow sensor (if available), throttle valve with a clean cloth.
Step 8
Insert a new filter element into the filter housing. Make sure that the filter edge fits tight to the housing.

Step 9
Reinstall the air filter cover. Fasten it.
Step 10
Attach the air intake hose to the air filter housing. Tighten the fuel filter pipe clamp. Use a drive socket #6.
Step 11
Screw in the fastening screws of the air filter cover. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 13
Close the hood.
