How to change air filter on BMW E39 Touring [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: air filter – BMW E39 touring. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Follow the terms, recommendations and requirements of the part operation provided by the manufacturer.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: air filter – BMW E39 touring. Take the following steps:
- Step 1
Open the hood. - Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car. - Step 3
Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 4
Remove the engine cover.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: air filter – BMW E39 touring. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it. - Step 5
Remove the fasteners of the air duct housing. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 6
Detach the air duct housing from the air filter housing. Use a clip removal tool. - Step 7
Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 8
Unscrew the oil filler plug. - Step 9
Remove the engine cover.Replacement: air filter – BMW E39 touring. Tip:Do not apply excessive force when removing the part. Otherwise you may damage it. - Step 10
Tighten the oil filler cap. - Step 11
Remove the filter element from the filter housing. - Step 12
Cover the air intake hose with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the system. - Step 13
Clean the air filter cover and housing.Replacement: air filter – BMW E39 touring. Tip from AUTODOC:Before cleaning the air filter cover and housing, cover the air duct parts, mass airflow sensor (if available), throttle valve with a clean cloth. - Step 14
Remove the microfibre towel from the air intake hose.
