Hi guys,
I bought a used 2014 Tekna a few months ago and have had a few issues and hoped you could help. The car went in for diagnostics and a few other things last week and one thing that was flagged is an apparent open connector in the engine. The engineer said someone must have carried out previous work and forgot to reconnect it. Iām trying to find out what this thing is obviously. Iāve attached a picture.
Another issue is with the engine itself. When we first bought the car it sounded smooth and had a high pitched injection sound when accelerating. After a few months it started sounded plonky and like a tractor, getting worse over the course of a few weeks. I took it to the dealerships recommended garage and they said nothing was wrong. The next day the engine oil light came on. Turns out the oil level was basically empty. AA came out and after filling with oil the engine sounded a lot better but not the original injection sounding noise etc. Iāve only had that sound once since. The dealership said the car was fully checked for levels and couldnāt have possibly been low on oil. But it was at a good level how has it gone down so fast in only a few months. The car is only used for short journeys. There are no signs of leak or smoke but the oil level does seem to drop quite quickly. The AA engineer also said the turbo sounding flappy intermittently. Nothing was flagged about the engine/driving sound last week. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Another issue has been the tyre sensors which also went mad after a few months. They kept showing over/under-inflated tyre readings multiple times a day with the front right tyre sensor consistently in yellow on the screen saying to check the cold tyre pressure. It was reset once but it came back after a few days. Eventually I realised the valve dust cap was missing on that tyre so I swapped it with one from another wheel and pumped the tyres to the correct levels. I havenāt had a single pressure warning since. Surely the dust cap had nothing to do with it?
The final issue is the front right parking sensor. Was fine for a while but now constantly goes off randomly. Assume itās just faulty for whatever reason.
Thanks in advance for any insight into all this.
