I’d like to hear some owners’ opinions. Is a Qashqai easy to maintain? Thanks in advance.
- NISSAN Qashqai / Qashqai +2 I (J10, NJ10) 1.6A. G.11.03.2021 09:56MemberHi WIlburI've owned my Qashqai 1.6 Petrol J10 with 54,000 miles for 16 months now. I've done an oil filter, air filter, oil change and changed the bulbs to Bosch for better illumination. Everything has been straightforward and easy to access. I've been really pleased how easy it has been to maintain the car. I've also just added 2x gas struts to lift the bonnet and keep it up. My rear washer was intermittent so I changed the washer pump and that was pretty easy too (taking off divers wheel and removing some of the inner plastic wheel arch at access). So yes, dont be afraid to buy a Qashqai - I love mine!

The most reliable Nissan Qashqai engines are typically the 1.5 dCi diesel and 1.6 petrol. Common issues include oil consumption in 1.2-litre petrol engines, timing chain problems, and occasional gearbox issues. Regular maintenance is key - oil changes every 12,000 miles or annually, and timing belt replacement at 60,000 miles. The 2022 Nissan Qashqai and e-Power models show improved reliability over earlier versions. Overall, the Qashqai offers reasonable reliability for its class, but owners should budget for potential repairs and stay vigilant about regular servicing.

But I've had to deal with a few niggles - the infotainment system can be a bit temperamental, and I've noticed it's quite thirsty on oil. Nothing major, mind you, but keep an eye on that dipstick!
- @IsaWill30.05.2025 16:30MemberReliable? Ha! My 2016 Qashqai thinks it's playing hide and seek with gears sometimes. One minute it's there, the next it's gone walkabout. Still, it's not all bad - at least I'm getting my daily workout pushing it out of the garage! 😂
- @C. Smith03.06.2025 08:03MemberI've got a 2022 Qashqai e-Power, and so far, it's been smooth sailing. No issues to report, and the fuel economy is brilliant. It's early days, but I'm optimistic about its long-term reliability. Plus, the tech is pretty nifty - feels like I'm driving something from the future!
- @Harry T. Rogers03.06.2025 08:26MemberMy experience with the 2017 Qashqai has been decent. It's not without its quirks, but what car is? Had to replace the brake pads earlier than expected, but other than that, it's been a solid daily driver. Just make sure you keep up with the servicing schedule, and you should be alright.
