Changing the glow plugs on a Dacia Duster (especially the 1.5 dCi diesel models) involves several careful steps due to their delicate nature and positioning in the engine. Here's a detailed description of the process:

    1. Preparation:
    - Warm up the engine to operating temperature; warm glow plugs are easier to remove.
    - Park the car on a level surface and open the bonnet.
    - Disconnect the battery’s negative terminal for safety.
    - Use a fender cover to protect bodywork from scratches.

    2. Accessing the Glow Plugs:
    - Remove components blocking access to the glow plugs. Typically, this involves detaching the air intake duct or pipe using a 10mm socket and ratchet.
    - Unclip and remove any engine covers or plastic protection plates.
    - Carefully disconnect the wiring harnesses connected to the glow plugs.

    3. Removing the Glow Plugs:
    - Use penetrating oil on the glow plugs several days before the procedure to loosen them.
    - Using a deep spark plug socket (usually 10mm) with a ratchet and extension, gently unscrew each glow plug.
    - Be very careful not to apply excessive force to avoid breaking the fragile glow plugs.
    - If a plug is difficult to remove, alternate between heating the engine and applying cold spray to help loosen it.

    4. Installing New Glow Plugs:
    - Before installation, clean the glow plug holes to remove any dirt or debris.
    - Apply a small amount of injector and glow plug grease on the threads to ensure proper sealing and prevent seizing.
    - Screw in the new glow plugs by hand initially to avoid cross-threading.
    - Tighten them with a torque wrench to the manufacturer’s specified torque (about 15 Nm), avoiding overtightening which can damage threads.

    5. Reassembly:
    - Reconnect the glow plug wiring connectors.
    - Reinstall any removed engine covers, intake pipes, and clamps.
    - Reattach the battery’s negative terminal.
    - Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to ensure proper operation.

Regarding the glow plug sensor or control (such as the glow plug relay and fuse), testing and replacement are also important if there are issues starting the engine; these components are usually accessible in the fuse box under the hood and can be tested with a multimeter or test light.

This process requires careful handling due to the fragile nature of glow plugs and the tight engine space in the Dacia Duster, but with proper preparation and attention, the job can be completed safely and effectively.
