The cylinder is located either directly under the reservoir or behind the brake pedal.

The brake master cylinder on your 2010 Renault Scenic is a bit of a shy character, often tucked away either directly under the brake fluid reservoir or mounted behind the brake pedal inside the engine bay, sometimes hidden behind a heat shield or other components, so it's not always in plain sight.

To get to it, you might need to remove some parts like the strut bar or air intake duct to get clear access. The master cylinder is usually secured to the brake booster by two 12mm nuts and has brake lines connected to it that need careful disconnecting to avoid fluid spillage.

When replacing it, it's a good idea to bench bleed the new master cylinder before installation to get rid of trapped air and make your brake pedal feel like new instead of a squishy sponge. After installation, a full system brake bleed is necessary to restore proper brake performance.

If the pedal feels soft or sinks to the floor, that’s a classic sign pointing to master cylinder issues like leaking seals or internal wear, so replacement is the way to go.

In short, the 2010 Scenic’s brake master cylinder is hidden but accessible with some sensible dismantling, and changing it is straightforward if you have the right tools and some hands-on patience. Just remember to handle brake fluid carefully—it’s corrosive, so no drips on your paintwork or skin!

good luck with the brake surgery! đŸš—đŸ› ïžđŸ’Ș
