Hi. I have a 535D F11 M57 Engine. She blows out blue smoke intermittantly. I have changed the PCV diaphram, stop smoking for 2 days and have now returned. turned off the engine, wait for 5 min, then restart and the smoke has gone. can anyone help or sugest. Bought a spurious PCV diaphram and fitted. Q. Is there a valve or something in the rocker cover that could be faulty?

Given the symptoms (the smoke disappears after restarting), the problem is 90% due to a malfunctioning CVCS system. Since it's a single component on the N57, BMW service centers recommend replacing the entire valve cover. Replacing just the diaphragm is a gamble, as the channels within the plastic itself become clogged.
