SKF CV Axle reviews

Two stars because I’ve actually fitted it now, but what an absolute nightmare… bearing and bracket that mounts to the block was about 3mm too far onto the shaft and as a result did not fit. Took many hours of trying all options under the sun to move it. In the end a variety of tools not found in your average at home workshop! a ten tonne press, fabrication of a metal brace that could hold the inner race and a couple of very knowledgable and persistent friends to get the bearing where it needed to be! Would not recommend to the average ‘at home mechanic’.

Bought the driveshaft to replace current ones which wore out at 120k. So far so good, look like they are built to a high standard, slightly shorter than the originals, but fitted perfectly. You can tell the build quality is premium and a lot better than the JR driveshafts in the U.K. If you don’t want to refurbish your originals than these are definitely worth buying if you don’t mind spending a little extra.

The quality that comes with SKF branded products does not apply to this driveshaft. After two years of use and 40K km, the ball joint broke. However, I bought the same one again because of its good price. After two years of use and 40K km this time it works well.

If you have a VW Golf MK3 (mine a diesel NOT TDI but the 1Y engine) with a 4 stud wheel the driveshafts are different in length to 5 stud (TDI / 16V and 8V) - you need this length drive shaft.
These guys seem to be the only ones with it available.

Fits my Forester 2007 perfectly.
There seems to be only a rear left side version according to Autodoc, however this one fits both rear left and rear right. So if you are looking for the rear right version, you can buy this one.

Good quality parts from a renowned manufacturer known for their best in class bearings. Fits perfectly and the drive is very smooth as if OEM.

Bad quality! Vibrations! The tire fell off the joint after 100 km of driving the car poor quality and poorly fitted tire...

Quality driveshaft! I don't know if SKF makes brand new driveshaft or it's refurbished but it is of high quality!
