Replacement: spark plugs – Opel Astra H saloon. Tip from AUTODOC:
The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: spark plugs – Opel Astra H saloon. Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Open the hood.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Remove the engine cover.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: spark plugs – Opel Astra H saloon. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
Step 4
Detach the connector from the ignition coil.
Step 5
Unscrew the ignition coil bolts. Use Torx T40. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 6
Pry up the ignition coil. Use a crowbar.
Step 7
Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.
Step 8
Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
Step 9
Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10
Take out the spark plugs.
Step 11
Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
Step 12
Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats.
Step 13
Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 nm torque.
Replacement: spark plugs – Opel Astra H saloon. AUTODOC recommends:
Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.
Step 14
Install the ignition coil to the spark plug well.
Step 15
Tighten the ignition coil bolts. Use Torx T40. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 7 nm torque.
Step 16
Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.
AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: spark plugs – Opel Astra H saloon. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 17
Plug in the ignition coil connector.
Step 18
Install the engine cover and secure it.
Replacement: spark plugs – Opel Astra H saloon. AUTODOC recommends:
When installing, do not use excessive force to avoid damage to the part.
Step 19
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 20
Shut off the engine.
Step 21
Remove the fender protection cover.
Step 22
Close the hood.
