Replacement: spark plugs – NISSAN PRIMERA (P12). Professionals recommend:
- The replacement procedure is the same for all spark plugs.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: spark plugs – NISSAN PRIMERA (P12). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose from the air duct. Use round-nose pliers.
- Step 4Unscrew the clamps and fasteners on the air filter intake pipe. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 5Disconnect the air intake pipe from the air filter housing.Step 6Unscrew the fasteners connecting the throttle valve to the intake manifold. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 7Release the clamp and detach the connector and the vacuum hose from the intake manifold near the throttle valve. Use round-nose pliers.
- Step 8Unscrew the fasteners of the intake manifold bracket. Use a drive socket #10.
- Step 9Detach the vacuum booster hose from the intake manifold.
- Step 10Unscrew the intake manifold fasteners. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Remove the intake manifold.
- Step 12Cover the intake manifold passages with a microfibre towel to prevent dust and dirt from getting inside.
- Step 13Unscrew the ignition coil bracket. Use a drive socket #10.
- Step 14Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.
- Step 15Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug well.
- Step 16Unscrew the spark plugs. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 17Take out the spark plugs. Use a telescoping magnet.
- Step 18Apply a thin layer of a special high temperature anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plugs.
- Step 19Treat the surface of the terminals of the new spark plugs. Use electronic spray.Step 20Install the new spark plugs into their mounting seats.
- Step 21Screw new spark plugs and tighten them. Use the spark plug socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 19.6 nm torque.AUTODOC recommends:Don't tighten the plugs with excessive force. Exceeding tightening torque can damage the thread connection. Be careful when working with a spark plug wrench. Its skewing can cause damage to the threaded connection.
- Step 22Install the ignition coil to the spark plug well. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.Replacement: spark plugs – NISSAN PRIMERA (P12). Tip:Follow the installation sequence.
- Step 23Tighten the ignition coil fastening. Use a drive socket #10. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 7 nm torque.
- Step 24Remove the microfibre towel from the intake manifold.
