Replacement: wheel bearing – VW GOLF VII Estate (BA5). AUTODOC recommends:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your VW GOLF VII Estate (BA5) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – VW GOLF VII Estate (BA5). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: wheel bearing – VW GOLF VII Estate (BA5). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.Step 7Unscrew the brake caliper fastening. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a combination spanner #19.
- Step 8Remove the brake caliper.Replacement: wheel bearing – VW GOLF VII Estate (BA5). AUTODOC experts recommend:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
- Step 9Remove the brake pads.
- Step 10Treat the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 11Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use XZN #12. Use a tap wrench. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 12Remove the caliper bracket.
- Step 13Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 14Remove the brake disc.
- Step 15Remove the hub bearing protection cap. Use a crowbar. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 16Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use XZN #18. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 17Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
- Step 18Clean the guiding part of the stub axle. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 19Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.
