Replacement: wheel bearing – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). AUTODOC recommends:

Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J) car.
The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: wheel bearing – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). Use the following procedure:

Step 1

Open the bonnet.

Step 2

Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.
Step 3

Secure the wheels with chocks.

Step 4

Loosen the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a tap wrench.
Step 5

Raise the car.

Replacement: wheel bearing – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). AUTODOC experts recommend:
If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 6

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J)
Step 7

Remove the wheel.
Step 8

Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 9

Unscrew the brake caliper fasteners. Use a combination spanner #13. Use a combination spanner #15.
Step 10

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 11

Remove the brake caliper. Use a crowbar.

Replacement: wheel bearing – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). Professionals recommend:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
Step 12

Remove the brake pads.
Step 13

Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 14

Unscrew the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use HEX No.H8. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 15

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 16

Remove the brake caliper bracket.
Step 17

Clean the brake disc fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 18

Unscrew the brake disc fasteners. Use an impact screwdriver. Use a hammer.
Step 19

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 20

Remove the brake disc.
Step 21

Remove the hub bearing cap. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
Step 22

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 23

Unscrew the wheel hub fastener. Use 12-point socket No.30. Use a tap wrench.
Step 24

Remove the fastening nut.
Step 25

Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are made as an assembly. Use 3-Arm Gear Puller.
Step 26

Remove the inner bearing ring from the stub axle. Use 3-Arm Gear Puller.
Step 27

Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 28

Clean the ABS sensor. Use a nylon cleaning brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 29

Install the new wheel hub together with the bearing. Use a bush and bearing driver set. Use a hammer.
Step 30

Install the fastening nut.
Step 31

Tighten the hub fastener. Use 12-point socket No.30. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 175 Nm torque.
Step 32

Install the hub bearing cap. Use a rubber mallet.
Step 33

Remove the support from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J) – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
Step 34

Treat the hub where it contacts the brake disk. Use ceramic grease.
Step 35

Install the brake disc.
Step 36

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 37

Tighten the brake disc fasteners. Use a Phillips screwdriver. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 4 Nm torque.
Step 38

Clean the brake caliper bracket of dirt and dust. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
Step 39

Install the brake caliper bracket.
Step 40

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 41

Tighten the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use HEX No.H8. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 65 Nm torque.
Step 42

Treat the brake pads in the area where their surface comes into contact with the brake caliper bracket. Use anti-squeal paste.

Step 43

Install the brake pads.
Step 44

Install the brake caliper.
Step 45

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 46

Tighten the brake caliper fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque.
Step 47

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 48

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 49

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.
Step 50

Install the wheel.

Replacement: wheel bearing – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 51

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 52

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 53

Remove the jacks and chocks.

AUTODOC recommends:
Without starting the engine, press the brake pedal several times until you feel significant resistance.Important! Replacement: wheel bearing – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
Step 54

Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap.

Step 55

Close the bonnet.
