Replacement: strut mount – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). AUTODOC experts recommend:

The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the right and left shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
Both mounts of the rear shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
Be sure to replace all self-locking nuts and bolts during installation.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: strut mount – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). Take the following steps:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J)
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use Torx T25.
Step 7

Remove the wheel arch cover.
Step 8

Secure the rear axle beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 9

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 10

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 11

Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.

AUTODOC recommends:
SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J) – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts.
Step 12

Remove the shock absorber.
Step 13

Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 14

Grip the shock absorber in a vice.
Step 15

Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench.
Step 16

Release the vice and take out the shock absorber.
Step 17

Remove the shock absorber mount, boot and bump stop.

Replacement: strut mount – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
Step 18

Install the new mount, boot, and bump stop on the shock absorber.
Step 19

Grip the shock absorber in a vice.
Step 20

Screw the shock strut piston rod upper fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
Step 21

Release the vice and take out the shock absorber.
Step 22

Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 23

Treat the shock absorber mounting seats. Use copper grease.
Step 24

Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J)
Step 25

Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 30 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 26

Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 27

Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use WD-40 spray.

Step 28

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 40 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 29

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 30

Install the wheel arch cover to its mounting seat.
Step 31

Install and tighten the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use Torx T25.
Step 32

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.
Step 33

Install the wheel.

Replacement: strut mount – SKODA ROOMSTER Praktik (5J). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 34

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 35

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 nm torque.
Step 36

Remove the jacks and chocks.
