Replacement: strut mount – VW Ameo (631). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the right and left shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Both mounts of the rear shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
- Be sure to replace all self-locking nuts and bolts during installation.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: strut mount – VW Ameo (631). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW Ameo (631)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 7Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 8Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the fastening bolt.Step 10Detach the lower part of the shock absorber. Use a crowbar.
- Step 11Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW Ameo (631)
- Step 12Remove the shock absorber.
- Step 13Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 14Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 15Remove the top strut mount.Replacement: strut mount – VW Ameo (631). AUTODOC recommends:Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
- Step 16Install a new strut mount.
- Step 17Screw the shock strut piston rod upper fastening. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 nm torque.
