Replacement: shock absorbers – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). Professionals recommend:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: shock absorbers – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 9Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 10Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.Replacement: shock absorbers – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). Tip:Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
- Step 11Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.Replacement: shock absorbers – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). Tip from AUTODOC experts:To avoid injuries, hold the shock absorber when undoing the fastening bolts.
- Step 12Remove the shock absorber.
- Step 13Grip the shock absorber in a vice.
- Step 14Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 15Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Remove the shock absorber mount, boot and bump stop.Replacement: shock absorbers – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). AUTODOC experts recommend:Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary. Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times.
- Step 17Install the mount, boot and bump stop onto a new shock absorber.
- Step 18Screw the shock strut piston rod upper fastening. Use a drive socket #15. Use a shock absorber socket. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
- Step 19Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
