Replacement: coil springs – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). Tip from AUTODOC:
- Both coil springs of the front suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the front suspension.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2)
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3
Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 4
Loosen the upper fastener of the shock strut mount. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 5
Remove the protective cap from the shock absorber strut mount. - Step 6Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 7
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 8Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 9
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: coil springs – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 10
Remove the wheel. - Step 11
Loosen the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a drive socket #36. Use a tap wrench. - Step 12
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 13
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the shock strut. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 14
Remove the stabilizer rod. - Step 15
Clean the ABS wiring harness bracket. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 16
Remove the brake hose retaining clip. - Step 17
Disconnect the brake hose. Use a crowbar. - Step 18
Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring. - Step 19
Clean the fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 20
Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use XZN #14. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench. Use a tap wrench. - Step 21
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 22
Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #13. Use a tap wrench. - Step 23Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm.Step 24
Unscrew the fastener connecting the drive shaft to the wheel hub. Use a drive socket #36. - Step 25
Detach the driveshaft from the steering knuckle. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer. - Step 26
Prop up the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.Replacement: coil springs – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). AUTODOC experts recommend:Make sure that the steering knuckle is supported. - Step 27
Remove the fastening bolt. - Step 28
Release the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a special drive socket to remove the shock absorber. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 29
Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut. - Step 30
Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the suspension strut while unscrewing the fastening bolts. SEAT CORDOBA (6L2) - Step 31
Remove the suspension strut. - Step 32
Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.Replacement: coil springs – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles. - Step 33
Compress the spring. - Step 34
Treat the shock strut rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 35
Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use HEX No.H6. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 36
Remove the shock absorber mount, boot and bump stop.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: coil springs – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). Carefully inspect the mount, the boot, and the bump stop of the shock absorber. Replace if necessary. - Step 37
Release the coil spring. - Step 38
Remove the spring. - Step 39
Install the spring on the shock absorber. - Step 40
Compress the spring. - Step 41
Install the mount, the boot and the bump stop on the shock absorber. - Step 42
Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use HEX No.H7. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 60 Nm torque.Replacement: coil springs – SEAT CORDOBA (6L2). Professionals recommend:Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment. - Step 43
Treat the shock strut rod. Use copper grease. - Step 44
Decompress the spring. - Step 45
Remove the assembled shock strut. - Step 46
Treat the mounting seats of the shock strut. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 47
Install the shock strut into the wheel arch.
