- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: shock absorbers – RENAULT MEGANE II Estate (KM0/1_). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Open the boot lid.Step 2
Raise the lower lining of the boot. - Step 3
Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 4
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 5
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19. - Step 6Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 7
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: shock absorbers – RENAULT MEGANE II Estate (KM0/1_). AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 8
Remove the wheel. - Step 9
Unscrew the fastener of the rear axle plastic protecting cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 10
Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 11
Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack. - Step 12
Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #18. Use a tap wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. RENAULT MEGANE II Estate (KM0/1_) - Step 13
Remove the fastening bolt. Use a drive socket #16. - Step 14
Remove the shock absorber. Use a crowbar. - Step 15
Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: shock absorbers – RENAULT MEGANE II Estate (KM0/1_). Professionals recommend:Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it manually 3-5 times. - Step 16
Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and fasten it. - Step 17
Install the fastening bolts.
