Replacement: coil springs – SEAT TOLEDO II (1M2). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: coil springs – SEAT TOLEDO II (1M2). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: coil springs – SEAT TOLEDO II (1M2). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring. Use a crowbar.
- Step 7Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 8Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 9Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 10Remove the fastening bolt. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: coil springs – SEAT TOLEDO II (1M2). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
- Step 12Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.Step 13Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a tap wrench.Step 14Remove the fastening bolt. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 15Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.AUTODOC recommends:SEAT TOLEDO II (1M2) – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
- Step 16Take out the spring.Replacement: coil springs – SEAT TOLEDO II (1M2). AUTODOC recommends:Inspect the rubber mounts of the suspension spring. Replace if necessary.
- Step 17Remove the rubber spring spacer.
- Step 18Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 19Install the rubber spacer on the new coil spring.
- Step 20Install the coil spring together with the rubber mounts into the mounting seats.
- Step 21Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.Step 22Install the fastening bolt.
- Step 23Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
