- Replace the stabiliser links on VW PASSAT (3B2) in pairs.
- The replacement procedure is identical for both stabiliser links on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: anti roll bar links – VW PASSAT (3B2). Use the following procedure:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VW PASSAT (3B2) - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean the stabiliser link fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Unscrew the fastener connecting the stabilizer link to the control arm. Use a drive socket #15. - Step 8
Clean the fasteners of the stabilizer bush brackets. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 9
Unscrew the fasteners of the stabilizer bush brackets. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #15. - Step 10
Unscrew the fasteners connecting the stabiliser link to the stabiliser bar. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench. - Step 11
Remove the stabilizer rod.Replacement: anti roll bar links – VW PASSAT (3B2). AUTODOC experts recommend:Examine stabiliser bushes. Replace them if needed. - Step 12
Install a new rod, tighten the fasteners. Use a combination spanner #15. - Step 13
Screw the fasteners of the stabilizer bush brackets. Use a combination spanner #15. Use a drive socket #15. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 35 Nm torque. - Step 14
Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
