How to change pollen filter / cabin filter on BMW E60 [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]

Replacement: pollen filter – BMW E60. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
- Replace the cabin filter at least once every six months, in early spring and autumn seasons.
- Follow the terms, recommendations and requirements of the part operation provided by the manufacturer.
- If the air flow into the cabin has sharply reduced, replace the filter before a scheduled maintenance.
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – BMW E60.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.
- Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
- Step 3Unscrew the fasteners of the cabin filter housing cover. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 4Release the cabin filter cover clips.
- Step 5Detach the connectors from the climate control sensors.
- Step 6Remove the cabin filter housing cover.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: pollen filter – BMW E60. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
- Step 7Remove the filter element from the filter housing.Replacement: pollen filter – BMW E60. Professionals recommend:Do not attempt to clean and reuse the filter - it will affect the quality of air cleaning inside the car.
- Step 8Unscrew the fasteners of the cabin filter housing cover. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Release the cabin filter cover clips.
- Step 10Remove the cabin filter housing cover.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: pollen filter – BMW E60. To avoid damaging the part when removing it, do not use excessive force.
- Step 11Remove the filter element from the filter housing.Replacement: pollen filter – BMW E60. Tip:Do not attempt to clean and reuse the filter - it will affect the quality of air cleaning inside the car.
- Step 12Cover the cabin filter air ducts with a microfibre cloth to keep dirt and dust out.
- Step 13Clean the cabin filter housing and cover.Replacement: pollen filter – BMW E60. Tip from AUTODOC:Remove any debris from the cabin filter housing carefully to prevent contamination of the ventilation duct.
- Step 14Remove the microfibre cloth from the cabin filter air ducts.
- Step 15Insert a new filter element into the filter housing. Make sure that the filter edge fits tight to the housing.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: pollen filter – BMW E60. Be sure to position the filtering element correctly. Avoid misalignment.Follow the air flow direction arrow on the filter.Take care to only use quality filters.
- Step 16Reinstall the cabin filter housing cover. Make sure you hear a click indicating that it is locked in place.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: pollen filter – BMW E60. Do not use excessive force during installation. This may damage the fasteners.
