Replacement: ignition leads – MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS Cabrio (W460). AUTODOC recommends:
- Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS Cabrio (W460).
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Disconnect the earth cable terminal from the battery. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 4Unscrew the inlet pipe fasteners. Use a Phillips screwdriver. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 5Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 6Remove the inlet pipe.
- Step 7Remove the high tension cable bracket.
- Step 8Make marks to indicate the order of installation of the spark plug wires.
- Step 9Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
- Step 10Disconnect the high tension cables from the ignition distributor.
- Step 11Remove the high tension cables.
- Step 12Treat the ignition distributor terminals. Use a wire brush. Use dielectric grease.
- Step 13Fit new high tension cables.Step 14Connect the high tension cables to the ignition distributor.Replacement: ignition leads – MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS Cabrio (W460). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Follow the installation sequence.
- Step 15Remove the ignition coil cover.
- Step 16Disconnect the high tension cable from the ignition coil.
- Step 17Remove the high tension cable from the ignition coil cover. Use a crowbar.
