Replacement: hand brake cable – ALFA ROMEO 146 (930). AUTODOC recommends:
- Replace the parking brake cables in pairs.
- Please note: all work on the car – ALFA ROMEO 146 (930) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Press the parking brake actuator lever on the brake caliper.
- Step 2Loosen the parking brake cable. Use a combination spanner #13.
- Step 3Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 4Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 5Clean the fastener of the parking brake cable. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 6Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake caliper. Use a crowbar. Use water pump pliers.
- Step 7Clean the fastener of the parking brake cable. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 8Unscrew the parking brake cable fastener. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 9Detach the parking brake cable from the car body. Use a crowbar.
- Step 10Unscrew the parking brake cable fastener. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 11Detach the parking brake cable from the car body. Use a crowbar.
- Step 12Clean the fastener of the parking brake cable. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 13Remove the retaining clip of the parking brake cable. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
- Step 14Release the parking brake cable.
- Step 15Remove the parking brake cable.Step 16Install a new parking brake cable.
