Replacement: fuel filter – MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS (W463). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
- Please note: all work on the car – MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS (W463) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the hood.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Unscrew the engine cover fastener. Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.Step 4Unscrew the fasteners of the back section of the engine cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 5Remove the back section of the engine cover.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: fuel filter – MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS (W463). Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
- Step 6Remove the engine cover.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: fuel filter – MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS (W463). To avoid damaging the part when removing it, do not use excessive force.Step 7Clean the fuel filter housing and the cover. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 8Loosen the fuel filter mounting. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Loosen the fastening clamps of the fuel filter pipes. Use a drive socket #5.5. Use a drive socket #7. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 10Detach the tubes from the fuel filter. Use round-nose pliers.Replacement: fuel filter – MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS (W463). Tip:Be careful! Fuel may leak from the filter housing and hoses.
- Step 11Remove the fuel filter.
- Step 12Install a new fuel filter.Replacement: fuel filter – MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS (W463). Tip from AUTODOC:Make sure that the fuel filter is positioned correctly. Consider the fuel flow direction mark.During installation, take care to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the fuel filter housing.MERCEDES-BENZ G-CLASS (W463) – It's important to only use high-quality filters.
- Step 13Clean the fuel filter housing and the cover. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
- Step 14Attach the pipe to the fuel filter.
- Step 15Tighten the fastening clamp of the fuel filter pipe. Use a drive socket #5.5. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Press the fuel primer pump several times until it gets hard. Use a bulb hand fuel pump.
