Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: fuel filter – BMW 6 Coupe (F13). Recommended sequence of steps:
Step 1
Open the fuel door.
Step 2
Unscrew the fuel filler cap.
Step 3
Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.
Step 4
Unscrew fixing bolts of the protective cover. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 5
Remove the protective cover.
Step 6
Prepare a container for fluids.
Step 7
Treat the fasteners attaching the tubes to the fuel filter. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 8
Loosen the fuel filter clamps. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 9
Remove the snap ring of the fuel pressure regulator retainer clip.
Step 10
Detach the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel filter. Use a crowbar.

Be careful! Fuel may leak from the filter housing and hoses.
Step 11
Loosen the fuel filter mounting. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 12
Disconnect the fuel supply lines from the fuel filter.
Step 13
Unscrew the fastener of the fuel filter bracket. Use Torx T20. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 14
Remove the fuel filter. Put the old filter cartridge in the container.
Step 15
Install a new fuel filter.

Remember, it is important not to mix up the input and output of the filter. Arrows on the filter indicate the direction of fuel flow.During installation, take care to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the fuel filter housing.Attention! Use quality filters – BMW 6 Coupe (F13).
Step 16
Connect the fuel supply lines to the fuel filter.
Step 17
Tighten the fuel supply line fastening. Use a flat screwdriver.
Step 18
Install the bracket on the fuel filter.
Step 19
Tighten the fastener of the fuel filter bracket. Use Torx T20. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 20
Tighten the fuel filter fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 21
Attach the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel filter. Install the snap ring of the fuel pressure regulator's retainer clip.
Step 22
Take the fluid container away from under the fuel filter.
Step 23
Install the protective cover.
Step 24
Tighten fixing bolts of the protective cover. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 25
Lower the car.
Step 26
Tighten the fuel filler cap.
Step 27
Close the fuel door.
Replacement: fuel filter – BMW 6 Coupe (F13). AUTODOC experts recommend:
Before starting off, switch the ignition on and off several times. This should be done to activate the fuel pump to make it pump fuel through the fuel system.
Step 28
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
Step 29
Shut off the engine.
