AUTODOC recommends:

Replace the brake disks on the car MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W212) in complete set for each axis. Regardless of the state of components. This will ensure even braking.
The replacement procedure is identical for both brake disks on the same axle.
When changing the brake discs, always replace the brake pads.
Please note: all work on the car – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W212) – should be done with the engine switched off.

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.

Step 2

Secure the wheels with chocks.

Step 3

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 4

Raise the car.

Replacement: brake discs – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W212). AUTODOC recommends:
If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
Step 5

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W212)
Step 6

Remove the wheel.
Step 7

Detach the connector of the brake pad wear sensor. Use long nose pliers.
Step 8

Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
Step 9

Clean the brake caliper fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

Step 10

Unscrew the brake caliper fasteners. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 11

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 12

Remove the brake caliper.

Replacement: brake discs – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W212). AUTODOC recommends:
Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
Step 13

Remove the brake pads.
Step 14

Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 15

Unscrew the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a combination spanner #18.
Step 16

Remove the fastening bolts.
Step 17

Remove the caliper bracket.
Step 18

Clean the brake disc fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 19

Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use HEX No.H5. Use an impact screwdriver.
Step 20

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 21

Remove the brake disc.
Step 22

Clean the hub. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.
Step 23

Treat the contacting surface. Use ceramic grease.
Step 24

Install the brake disc.
Step 25

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 26

Tighten the brake disc fastening. Use HEX No.H5. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 10 Nm torque.
Step 27

Clean the brake caliper bracket from dirt and dust. Use a wire brush. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: brake discs – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W212). After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
Step 28

Install the brake caliper bracket.
Step 29

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 30

Tighten the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 115 Nm torque.
Step 31

Treat the brake pads in the area where their surface comes into contact with the brake caliper bracket. Use anti-squeal paste.

Replacement: brake discs – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W212). Professionals recommend:
Make sure the disc surface is clean before installing the pads.
Step 32

Install the brake pads.
Step 33

Treat the brake caliper piston. Use a nylon cleaning brush. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: brake discs – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W212). After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 34

Press in the brake caliper piston. Use brake caliper wind back tool.
Step 35

Install the brake caliper and fix it.
Step 36

Install the fastening bolts.
Step 37

Tighten the brake caliper fasteners. Use a combination spanner #17. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 34 Nm torque.
Step 38

Treat the brake pad wear sensor plug. Use dielectric grease.
Step 39

Attach the connector of the brake pad wear sensor.
Step 40

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use ceramic grease.
Step 41

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 42

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W212)
Step 43

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 44

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 130 Nm torque.
Step 45

Remove the jacks and chocks.

Replacement: brake discs – MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS (W212). Professionals recommend:
Without starting the engine, press the brake pedal several times until you feel significant resistance.Check the brake fluid level in the expansion tank and refill if necessary.
Step 46

Tighten the brake fluid reservoir cap. Close the hood.
