Replacement: ball joint – VW POLO CLASSIC (6KV2). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right ball joints.
- Please note: all work on the car – VW POLO CLASSIC (6KV2) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1
Secure the wheels with chocks. - Step 2
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. - Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4
Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: ball joint – VW POLO CLASSIC (6KV2). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts. - Step 5
Remove the wheel. - Step 6
Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 7
Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. - Step 8
Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #13. Use a tap wrench. - Step 9
Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm. - Step 10
Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Use a crowbar. Use a ball joint puller. - Step 11
Remove the ball joint. - Step 12
Clean the ball joint mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray. - Step 13
Install a new ball joint.Replacement: ball joint – VW POLO CLASSIC (6KV2). Tip from AUTODOC:Do not damage the ball joint cover. - Step 14
Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle. - Step 15
Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a combination spanner #19.
