Replacement: ball joint – SKODA FABIA Combi. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right ball joints.
- Please note: all work on the car – SKODA FABIA Combi – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: ball joint – SKODA FABIA Combi. Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18.
- Step 8Unscrew the fastener connecting the ball joint to the suspension control arm. Use a drive socket #13. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 9Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm.
- Step 10Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Use a crowbar. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 11Remove the ball joint.
- Step 12Clean the ball joint mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 13Install a new ball joint.Replacement: ball joint – SKODA FABIA Combi. Tip from AUTODOC:Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 14Connect the ball joint to the steering knuckle.
- Step 15Screw the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a combination spanner #19.
