Replacement: front lower arm – SKODA FABIA Combi. AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right lower control arms.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: front lower arm – SKODA FABIA Combi. Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. SKODA FABIA Combi
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Unscrew the fasteners of the lower sound insulation. Use a drive socket #12. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
- Step 7Remove the lower sound insulation.
- Step 8Unscrew the fasteners of the ball joint. Use a drive socket #13. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 9Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Replacement: front lower arm – SKODA FABIA Combi. Tip from AUTODOC:After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.Wear protective goggles.Wear a respirator.
- Step 10Unscrew the front arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18.
- Step 11Support the engine in the oil pan area. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 12Remove the fastening bolt. Use a crowbar. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 13Lower the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: front lower arm – SKODA FABIA Combi. Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
- Step 14Disconnect the spherical joint from the arm. Use a crowbar.
- Step 15Remove the arm. Use a crowbar.
- Step 16Clean the mounting seats and the thread of the suspension arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 17Install a new arm. Use a crowbar.Replacement: front lower arm – SKODA FABIA Combi. AUTODOC recommends:During the installation process, use only new bolts and nuts.Do not damage the ball joint cover.
- Step 18Support the engine in the oil pan area. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 19Install the front fastener of the arm.
- Step 20Screw the front arm fastener. Use a combination spanner #18.
