When to replace the Oil Filter on your AUDI A3

Tools
Replacement: engine oil and filter – AUDI A3 (8P1). Tools you'll need:
Oil filter cup socket 65/67-14f
Drive socket # 19
Ring spanner # 19
Torque wrench
Oil drain pan
Funnel
Microfibre towel
Fender cover
AUTODOC recommends:
  • Replace the oil filter every time when changing motor oil.
  • Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.
  • Use only new O-rings during installation.
  • Warning! Shut down the engine before starting any work – AUDI A3 (8P1).
Carry out replacement in the following order:
  1. Step 1
    Open the hood.
    Step 2
    Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
    Step 3
    Lift the car using a jack or place it over an inspection pit.
    AUTODOC recommends:
    The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.

    Unscrew the oil filler plug.
  2. Step 5
    Undo the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover.
    Step 6

    Put a waste oil container with at least 5 l capacity under the drainage hole.
  3. Step 7
    Unscrew the drain plug. Use a drive socket No.19 or ring spanner No.19.
    Step 8
    Drain the used oil.
    Replacement: engine oil and filter – AUDI A3 (8P1). AUTODOC recommends:
    Caution! The oil may be hot.Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.
    Step 9
    Move the container under the oil filter.
    Step 10

    Unscrew the oil filter. Use the 65/67-14f socket.

  4. Step 11
    Changing Oil Filter on AUDI A3 Hatchback (8P1) 2.0 TDI 2006 by yourself
    Prepare a container for the old oil filter.
  5. Step 12

    Remove the oil filter. Put the old oil filter in the container.
    Replacement: engine oil and filter – AUDI A3 (8P1). Tip from AUTODOC experts:
    Move up the container. The oil starts to drain out of the drainage hole immediately after you have removed the oil filter.
