If your Citroën Nemo van is stuck in gear, the most common causes are related to issues with the gearbox actuator or the clutch actuator. The Nemo is fitted with a semi-automatic gearbox called SensoDrive, and the actuators that engage and select gears can fail or become dry and seize up, causing the vehicle to get stuck in a gear or fail to shift.

A typical symptom is the vehicle not starting or failing to engage any gear, often due to a faulty clutch actuator that prevents disengagement of the clutch. In some cases, the gearbox actuator motor brushes wear out, and these motors need to be repaired or replaced. Moisture ingress and lack of lubrication can also cause malfunction in these actuator units.

If the gear lever feels sloppy or excessively loose in neutral, that can also point to wear in the gear selector mechanism, which sometimes causes gear engagement problems.

The fix generally involves inspecting and potentially replacing the gearbox actuator or clutch actuator modules, cleaning and lubricating the parts, and recalibrating the system using diagnostic tools. Internal gearbox issues such as worn selector forks or gears are less common but possible.

If the van has been sitting unused for a while, actuators and linkage parts can seize more easily, so thorough lubrication and inspection help. Diagnostics with specialized scan tools are usually needed to identify exact actuator faults.

In summary, actuator failure is the key problem for a Citroën Nemo stuck in gear, and repairing or replacing these parts typically resolves the issue.
