They don't squeak and don't require lubrication. But their lifespan is significantly shorter than that of polyurethane components. The tensile strength of polyurethane is higher than that of rubber. Polyurethane elastic elements better withstand peak loads (and do not break down). However, motorists often complain about the squeaking noise produced by these bushings. This problem can be eliminated by lubricating the components. The manufacturers recommend to grease them every 4-5 years.

That said, the PU bushes may not be suitable to replace every type of bush and it should be noted that most PU bushes rotate relative to the inner ferrule (which is where the silicone grease should be used). If the ends of the bush rotate relative to something else being touched, then use silicone grease there to.PU bushes can sometimes be very slightly noisier than original types. I have found no real difference with PU bushes for certain types of damper and still use rubber anti roll bar D bushes. There is no benefit to PU for these applications, IMO. An NLGI 3 rated silicone grease appears to be the best long term lubricant for PU bushes. Grease liberally and if mild steel ferrules are used, pack it as well as possible to ensure the ferrules do not corrode. Superflex use stainless steel ferrules but that comes at a price premium.PU can prove very useful in certain bushes such as in the front suspension radius rods and TCA of an older 940 or perhaps the wishbones of V70 if more precise location is desired. PU is a step down from rose joints which are used for race or drift cars.

- @user_310142624.12.2024 06:56MemberIf you prioritize performance, handling, and durability, and are willing to accept a potentially stiffer ride with more noise, replacing original components with polyurethane bushings can be a great choice.

What do you think of polyurethane bushings? Is it a good idea to replace the original components with them?
