Replacing bearing on Corsa Mk3 (D) hatchback VAUXHALL Corsa Mk III (D) Hatchback (S07) 1.0 (44 kw / 60 hp) (11.2006 - 08.2014)
- @b_diXon28.08.2025 17:46MemberYou’re in luck—on the Corsa Mk3 (D) hatchback you DO have a choice, but it’s a bit “depends where the bearing is!” If just the bearing is worn (not the hub), it’s possible to buy the bearing only for the front wheels and replace it, but you'll need a hydraulic press for the job.
For the rear wheels on the Corsa D, the bearing usually comes pre-installed/sealed as part of the complete hub unit. If your rear bearing is gone, it's way easier to swap the whole hub assembly—just bolt off and bolt on, no hassle with presses or circlips. Most shops and tutorials will recommend this because it saves time and avoids dodgy fits.
So:
- Front bearing: Buy just the bearing if you're prepared to press it in/out. The hub stays.
- Rear bearing: Typically you have to buy the whole hub/bearing assembly, as it's not designed to be split or serviced separately.
If you're aiming for a DIY job and don't have a press, the rear hub kit lets you skip the wrestling match. Fronts? Whole hub is easier for beginners too, so some mechanics go for the assembly method just to save effort and risk (no shame in making it easy).
Good luck, and may your new bearing spin smooth and quiet!

Should I buy the hub assembly for repair if only bearing is worn-out? Can I buy the bearing only? Please help.
