Nankang Tyres Review TOYOTA Corolla VIII Liftback (E110) (04.1997 - 01.2002)
- @Harry T. Rogers26.08.2025 15:29MemberHey mate, Nankang tyres have become a budget-friendly go-to for a lot of daily drivers, and Iâve seen âem on plenty of Corollas just doing their thing. In wet British weather, most drivers say Nankangâs newer modelsâespecially the Sportnex NS-20 and AS2+âhold their grip pretty well for the price, offering safe, predictable braking and decent cornering, though you wonât mistake them for premium performance rubber. For regular rain, puddles, and less-than-dramatic commutes, theyâre more than up to the job.
Durabilityâs actually a surprise plus: folks have eked out 45,000 to even 80,000 miles, though the AS2+ can wear a bit quicker after 10â12k if most of your drivingâs on motorways. Theyâre definitely tough enough for everyday commutes and your occasional joyrides, unless youâre planning to moonlight as a minicab driver or rally hero.
Road noise gets mixed reviewsâsome models like the NS-2R are described as âtolerable, maybe annoying on long trips,â while the Econex NA-1 and NS-20 are quieter with less cabin hum than most budget tyres. Comfort is about what youâd expect for a mid-range tyre: firm but not tooth-rattling, and the ride gets smoother with the touring versions (avoid âsemi-slicksâ for your Corolla unless you just love soundtrack of tyre roar).
So: great value, reliable grip in the wet, long-lasting unless you hammer them, and comfort/noise is totally fine for normal people (unless youâre particularly fussy or have a dog with sensitive hearing). Not quite Michelin, but you donât end up sobbing at the price. If you donât mind the logo, Nankangâs definitely worth a punt for hassle-free everyday driving!

Has anyone here tried Nankang tyres on their 1998 Toyota Corolla? Iâm curious about their performance in wet conditions and overall durability. Are they worth the investment for daily commuting and occasional long drives? Any feedback on road noise or comfort?
