Load sensor check VW Transporter T4 Van (70A, 70H, 7DA, 7DH) (07.1990 - 04.2003)
@Graziana Venturi12.02.2025 13:23MemberHello Tomac!
Any system is easy to check. If there is no general error on the instrument panel, then all systems are working normally. If there is an emergency alarm on the instrument panel, you need to connect a diagnostic stand. Read the error codes. The codes will indicate the problem.Spare parts for your VWWorking on a VW? I'm in a different world, on about the 'spring-loaded hydraulic lever' at the rear axle (axle 2).
At my last vehicle test I was told that there was no measurable braking power on my rear service brake. I was caught unaware because my brakes feel so good! There was no advice offered except to change out parts. Pads and discs are what they are (look fine or good enough).
I've noticed the nylon screw-out stops do not touch the cross-bar which connects to the lever. The lever adds more hydraulic power as the load increases.
My limited experience has taught me that a clean and relube sorts out 90% of under-performance whether mechanical or electric.
So, to start I'm going to have to do a stop test, mark it out on the road, jack up the back, screw out the nylon stoppers and redo the test. That'll give me a point of reference to work with.
Mmmmm. The things I do for fun.
Regards.

As far as I’m aware, when it comes to rear brake efficiency it’s not just about the discs, pads and dot4, but also about the load sensor.
How do I check to see that this part in the system is working properly?
Regards to the community and thank you in advance.
