The automatic transmission will not change gear and makes large banging noises on selecting drive or reverse. The engine idles unevenly – lumpy. The vehicle has done 33000 miles from new – 7 years ago. Scan shows mechatronics. I had a specialist look at this, he took it apart for inspection, reprogrammed it, couldn’t find a fault, said it’s the clutch/flywheel. I have the clutch and flywheel out, there are no obvious faults, looks like it has done 33000 miles. Now wondering whether it is something very simple like the flywheel sensor, which feeds into the mechatronics. Any advice most welcome to an isolated owner living on a small island a long way from home.
