3. Drain the old coolant: Locate the radiator drain plug or detach the lower radiator hose. Place a container underneath to catch the old coolant, then loosen the drain or hose clamp and let the coolant flow out. Dispose of the old coolant properly; it’s poisonous.

4. Flush the system (optional but recommended): After draining, refill the radiator with clean water and run the engine until warm with the heater on. Then drain again to flush out remaining contaminants.

5. Refill with coolant: Use Toyota’s recommended coolant (usually the Super Long Life Pink coolant). It’s often pre-mixed, so no need to add water. Pour it into the radiator or coolant reservoir slowly.

6. Bleed the system: To remove air pockets, run the engine with the radiator cap off and heater on high. You might see bubbles escaping. Keep topping up the coolant until it stabilizes.

7. Put everything back: Secure the radiator cap, lower the car, and double-check coolant levels after a short drive.
