I recently managed to accidently back into a bin breaking the rear inner light/reflector cover of my car and have been searching everywhere but can seem to find anything on how to remove the rear reflector. (The inner light/reflector on the boot door, not the main light cluster) If anyone knows can you please help me out here.

Hi. You won't find the reflector separately. Hello. All the lights on your car are manufactured and replaced as a whole.

@Himired not necessarily true mate, depends on the car really. had the same thing happen on my old Fiesta and managed to get just the reflector bit off without touching the whole light assembly. you basically need to pop off the boot trim panel from inside first

exactly what @CharlesV said. most cars have the inner trim held by clips and maybe a couple screws. once you get that off you should see nuts or clips holding the reflector in place from behind

@user_2653602 which car do you have btw? makes a big difference because some manufacturers make it dead simple and others you practically need to remove half the boot door

had this on my brothers motor last year. the inner boot trim just unclips if you're careful with a plastic trim tool. dont use a screwdriver or you'll scratch everything up. once the trims off you'll see how its mounted

yeah @Oliver Jones is right about the trim tool, learned that the hard way 😅 gouged my trim panel trying to pry it with a flathead. got one of those cheap plastic pry tool sets and worked perfectly after that

@user_2653602 usually there's like 2 or 3 nuts behind the reflector accessible through the trim panel. on my mates Golf it was 10mm nuts, took about 15 mins total to swap it out including getting the trim back on

@FWB good point actually, we dont even know what car it is lol. but general process is pretty much the same, open boot, remove interior trim carefully, find the mounting nuts or clips, disconnect any wiring if its got bulbs in it, then pop the reflector out

one thing to watch for is sometimes theres plastic clips in the middle as well as nuts on the edges. had that on a Sportage i worked on, two nuts on the outside and two white clips in the center that you gotta squeeze from inside to release

@user_2653602 when you get the trim panel off take a pic of whats behind there if you're stuck. sometimes its not obvious which bits to undo and you dont wanna force anything and crack the housing

Been doing this kind of stuff for years and honestly the trim removal is always the scary part. those plastic clips get brittle especially on older cars. warm day helps, makes the plastic more flexible and less likely to snap

@george.evans so true, did my Corsa in winter and snapped two clips straight away. had to order replacements which was a pain. definitely worth warming it up a bit or doing it in a garage if its cold out

@user_2653602 also before you start trying to remove anything have a proper look at how the reflector sits in the body. sometimes theres a specific direction you need to slide or tilt it to get it out once the fasteners are undone. saves you wrestling with it for ages

If you still cant find info for your specific model try looking up the workshop manual or even checking youtube for similar models from the same manufacturer. they usually use similar mounting methods across the range. and yeah like everyone said, plastic trim tools are essential, dont skip that part

honestly if its been months and bluetooth works fine id just use bluetooth and forget about carplay for calls. i know thats not ideal but sometimes these car systems are just buggy and no amount of troubleshooting fixes it properly. or get the dealer to check the microphone like others said 👍
