- Step 1Open the bonnet.Step 2Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.Step 3Unscrew the fasteners of the car battery terminals. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 4Remove the battery terminals.
- Step 5Unscrew the coolant reservoir cap.
- Step 6Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 7Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 8Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 9Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). Tip:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 10Remove the wheel.
- Step 11Remove the wheel arch cover. Use a clip removal tool.
- Step 12Unscrew the fuel filter bracket fixing bolts. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 13Remove the fuel filter fastening bracket.
- Step 14Unscrew the fuel filter bracket fixing bolts. Use a combination spanner #10.
- Step 15Remove the fuel filter fastening bracket.
- Step 16Pull aside the V-ribbed belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #16.
- Step 17Remove the V-ribbed belt.
- Step 18Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position. Use a combination spanner #16.Step 19Support the subframe. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 20Clean the subframe fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 21Unscrew the subframe reinforcement bracket fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 22Unscrew the subframe fastening. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 23Remove the support from under the subframe.AUTODOC recommends:Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
- Step 24Unscrew the TDC timing pin plug. Use a drive socket #E14. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 25Install the crankshaft gear locking tool according to the factory marks. Use an engine timing tool set.
- Step 26Unscrew the crankshaft pulley fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 27Remove the crankshaft pulley.
- Step 28Screw in the crankshaft pulley fastener. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.Step 29Remove the crankshaft gear locking tool.
- Step 30Remove the lower timing cover.
- Step 31Support the engine in the oil pan area. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 32Unscrew the upper fastener of the engine mount. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 33Remove the upper part of the engine mount.
- Step 34Remove the upper timing cover.
- Step 35Unscrew the engine mount fasteners. Use a combination spanner #10. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 36Remove the engine mount.
- Step 37Turn the crankshaft gear. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.Please note!The piston should be at its top dead centre (TDC).
- Step 38Install the crankshaft gear locking tool according to the factory marks. Use an engine timing tool set.
- Step 39Make a mark on the crankshaft gear.
- Step 40Install the camshaft gear locking tool according to the factory marks. Use an engine timing tool set.
- Step 41Make a mark on the camshaft gear.
- Step 42Loosen the fastener of the timing belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #13. Use HEX No.H6.
- Step 43Pull aside the timing belt tensioner pulley.
- Step 44Remove the timing belt.
- Step 45Return the tensioner pulley to its initial position.Step 46Remove the timing belt tensioner pulley.
- Step 47Unscrew the fasteners of the middle timing cover. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 48Unscrew the fastener of the serpentine belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #13.
- Step 49Remove the serpentine belt tensioner pulley.
- Step 50Remove the middle timing cover.
- Step 51Detach the clamp of the lower coolant pipe. Use long round nose pliers.
- Step 52Prepare a container for fluids.
- Step 53Detach the lower coolant pipe.
- Step 54Drain the coolant from the engine.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). Professionals recommend:Caution! The coolant can be very hot.Wear gloves to prevent contact with hot liquid.All work should be done with the engine stopped.
- Step 55Attach the lower coolant pipe.
- Step 56Attach the clamp of the lower coolant pipe. Use clic-R collar pliers.
- Step 57Unscrew the water pump fasteners. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 58Remove the water pump.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). Tip:Caution! Coolant may come out from the water pump channels and body.
- Step 59Clean the water pump mounting seat. Use a seal scraper.
- Step 60Treat the fastening bolts. Use a sealant.
- Step 61Install the water pump gasket.
- Step 62Install the new water pump.
- Step 63Tighten the water pump fasteners. Use a drive socket #8. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 12 Nm torque.
- Step 64Install the middle timing cover.
- Step 65Screw in the fasteners of the middle timing cover. Use a drive socket #8. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 66Treat the fastening bolt. Use a sealant.
- Step 67Install the timing belt tensioner pulley.
- Step 68Install the new timing belt according to the factory marks.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). AUTODOC experts recommend:Be careful not to damage the timing belt.
- Step 69Adjust the timing belt tension by moving the tensioner pulley. Use HEX No.H6.Replacement: water pump & timing belt kit – RENAULT CLIO Grandtour (KR0/1_). AUTODOC recommends:Make sure that the timing belt is properly tensioned.
- Step 70Screw in the fastener of the timing belt tensioner pulley. Use a combination spanner #13.
- Step 71Remove the camshaft gear locking tool.
- Step 72Remove the crankshaft gear locking tool.
