Replacement: strut mount – SEAT IBIZA SPORTCOUPE Box Body / Hatchback (6J1). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the right and left shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- Both mounts of the rear shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
- Be sure to replace all self-locking nuts and bolts during installation.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: strut mount – SEAT IBIZA SPORTCOUPE Box Body / Hatchback (6J1). Take the following steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. SEAT IBIZA SPORTCOUPE Box Body / Hatchback (6J1)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use Torx T25.
- Step 7Remove the wheel arch cover.
- Step 8Secure the rear axle beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 9Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 10Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 11Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:SEAT IBIZA SPORTCOUPE Box Body / Hatchback (6J1) – To avoid injury, hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts.
- Step 12Remove the shock absorber.
- Step 13Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Grip the shock absorber in a vice.
- Step 15Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench.
- Step 16Release the vice and take out the shock absorber.
- Step 17Remove the shock absorber mount, boot and bump stop.Replacement: strut mount – SEAT IBIZA SPORTCOUPE Box Body / Hatchback (6J1). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Examine the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
- Step 18Install the new mount, boot, and bump stop on the shock absorber.
- Step 19Grip the shock absorber in a vice.
- Step 20Screw the shock strut piston rod upper fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
- Step 21Release the vice and take out the shock absorber.
