Replacement: strut mount – SEAT EXEO (3R2). Tip from AUTODOC experts:

The replacement procedure is identical for the mounts of the right and left shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
Both mounts of the rear shock struts should be replaced simultaneously.
Please note: all work on the car – SEAT EXEO (3R2) – should be done with the engine switched off.

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. SEAT EXEO (3R2)
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6.1

Unscrew and remove the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use a drive socket #13.

Step 6.2

Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 7

Remove the wheel arch cover.
Step 8

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 9

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #21. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 10

Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 11

Remove the fastening bolt.
Step 12

Detach the lower part of the shock absorber. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer.

Step 13

Remove the support from under the arm.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – SEAT EXEO (3R2). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 14

Unscrew the upper fastener of the shock absorber. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench.

Replacement: strut mount – SEAT EXEO (3R2). Tip:
To avoid injuries, hold the shock absorber when undoing the fastening bolts.
Step 15

Remove the shock absorber.
Step 16

Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 17

Remove the shock absorber piston rod fastening. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench.
Step 18

Remove the top mount.
Step 19

Remove the shock absorber dust cap and the bump stop.

Step 20

Install the new mount, boot, and bump stop on the shock absorber.
Step 21

Tighten the shock absorber rod nut. Use a combination spanner #17. Use an adjustable wrench. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
Step 22

Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 23

Place the shock absorber in the wheel arch and secure it.

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Hold the shock absorber while screwing in the fastening bolts. SEAT EXEO (3R2)
Step 24

Tighten the top shock absorber fastening. Use a drive socket #13. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 36 Nm torque.
Step 25

Support the arm. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 26

Attach the lower part of the shock absorber.

Step 27

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 28

Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #21. Use a drive socket #21. Use a ratchet wrench.

Step 29

Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.

Step 30

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #21. Use a drive socket #21. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 150 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 31

Remove the support from under the arm.

Replacement: strut mount – SEAT EXEO (3R2). AUTODOC recommends:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 32

Treat the shock strut fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 33

Install the wheel arch cover to its mounting seat.
Step 34

Install and tighten the wheel arch cover fasteners. Use a drive socket #13. Use Torx T25. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 35

Treat the surface where the brake disc contacts the wheel rim. Use copper grease.
Step 36

Clean the brake disk surface. Use a brake cleaner.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: strut mount – SEAT EXEO (3R2). After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 37

Install the wheel.

Replacement: strut mount – SEAT EXEO (3R2). Professionals recommend:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.
Step 38

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 39

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 nm torque.
Step 40

Remove the jacks and chocks.
