Replacement: shock absorbers – Seat Leon 1M1. Professionals recommend:
- Both shock absorbers of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
- The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right shock absorbers of the rear suspension.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: shock absorbers – Seat Leon 1M1. Use the following procedure:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 2Loosen the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 3Raise the car.AUTODOC recommends:If you are using a jack, make sure it rests on a flat surface without any unevenness.Be sure to additionally secure the car with jack stands.
- Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: shock absorbers – Seat Leon 1M1. AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the lower shock absorber fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Support the rear axle beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
- Step 8Unscrew the lower fasteners of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 9Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 10Clean the fasteners of the shock absorber upper mount. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 11Unscrew the shock absorber mount fasteners. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the shock absorber while unscrewing the fastening bolts. Seat Leon 1M1
- Step 12Remove the fastening bolts.
- Step 13Remove the shock absorber.
- Step 14Clean the shock absorber mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 15Grip the shock absorber in a vice.
- Step 16Remove the shock absorber mount cap. Use a crowbar.
- Step 17Clean the shock absorber rod fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 18Unscrew the fastener of the shock absorber piston rod. Use a drive socket #17. Use a shock absorber socket #DD5.2. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 19Remove the shock absorber mount, dust boot, and bump stop.Replacement: shock absorbers – Seat Leon 1M1. Tip:Examine the shock absorber dust boot and bump stop. Replace them if necessary.
- Step 20Install the mount, dust boot, and bump stop on a new shock absorber.AUTODOC recommends:Before installing a new shock absorber you should pump it 3–5 times by hand.
- Step 21Tighten the shock absorber rod nut. Use a drive socket #17. Use a shock absorber socket #DD5.2. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 25 Nm torque.
- Step 22Treat the shock absorber rod fastener. Use copper grease.Step 23Install the shock absorber mount cap.
- Step 24Release the vice and take out the shock absorber.
