Replacement: coil springs – SEAT LEON (1M1). Tip from AUTODOC experts:

Both coil springs of the rear suspension should be replaced simultaneously.
The replacement procedure is identical for the left and right coil springs of the rear suspension.
All work should be done with the engine stopped.

Replacement: coil springs – SEAT LEON (1M1). Take the following steps:

Step 1

Secure the wheels with chocks.
Step 2

Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 3

Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.

Step 4

Unscrew the wheel bolts.

Replacement: coil springs – SEAT LEON (1M1). Tip:
To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
Step 5

Remove the wheel.
Step 6

Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring. Use a crowbar.
Step 7

Clean the shock absorber fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 8

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a tap wrench.
Step 9

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 10

Remove the fastening bolt. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 11

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: coil springs – SEAT LEON (1M1). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 12

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.

Step 13

Unscrew the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a tap wrench.

Step 14

Remove the fastening bolt. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 15

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
SEAT LEON (1M1) – Do not lower the transmission jack sharply to avoid damaging components and mechanisms of the car.
Step 16

Take out the spring.

Replacement: coil springs – SEAT LEON (1M1). AUTODOC recommends:
Inspect the rubber mounts of the suspension spring. Replace if necessary.
Step 17

Remove the rubber spring spacer.
Step 18

Clean the coil spring mounting seats. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
Step 19

Install the rubber spacer on the new coil spring.
Step 20

Install the coil spring together with the rubber mounts into the mounting seats.
Step 21

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.

Step 22

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 23

Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 24

Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 25

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 40 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 26

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

Replacement: coil springs – SEAT LEON (1M1). AUTODOC experts recommend:
Lower the hydraulic transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging assemblies and mechanisms.
Step 27

Support the rear suspension beam. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.
Step 28

Install the fastening bolt.
Step 29

Screw in the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 30

Raise the hydraulic transmission jack by 10-15 cm.
Step 31

Tighten the lower fastener of the shock absorber. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 40 Nm torque.+90°

AUTODOC recommends:
Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
Step 32

Remove the mounting from under the rear axle beam.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: coil springs – SEAT LEON (1M1). Lower the transmission jack smoothly, without jerks, to avoid damaging components and mechanisms.
Step 33

Connect the ABS sensor wiring.
Step 34

Treat the shock absorber fasteners. Use copper grease.
Step 35

Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.
Step 36

Treat the surface where the wheel rim contacts the brake drum. Use copper grease.
Step 37

Install the wheel.

AUTODOC recommends:
Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while screwing in the fastening bolts on the car. SEAT LEON (1M1)
Step 38

Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
Step 39

Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 120 Nm torque.
Step 40

Remove the jacks and chocks.
