- Perform the replacement of brake pads in complete set for each axis. This provides effective braking.
- The replacement procedure is identical for all brake pads on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk II (C) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Open the bonnet. Unscrew the brake fluid reservoir cap.Step 2Secure the wheels with chocks.Step 3Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.Step 4Raise the rear of the car and secure on supports.Step 5
Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Warning! To avoid injury, hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk II (C) - Step 6
Remove the wheel. - Step 7Fully lower the parking brake lever.Step 8Clean the brake drum. Use a wire brush. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.Step 9
Remove the hub bearing protection cap. Use a flat screwdriver. Use a hammer.Replacement: brake shoes – VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk II (C). Tip:Some cars are not equipped with wheel hub caps. - Step 10
Unscrew the wheel hub axle nut. Use a drive socket #27. Use a tap wrench. - Step 11
Remove the brake drum assembled with the wheel hub bearing. - Step 12
Disconnect the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever. Use round-nose pliers. Use a flat screwdriver. - Step 13
Take out brake pad retainer springs from the holes. Use pliers. - Step 14
Remove the brake pads retaining clips. Use pliers. Use round-nose pliers. - Step 15
Remove the brake pads.Replacement: brake shoes – VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk II (C). AUTODOC experts recommend:Don't press the brake pedal after removing the rear brake drum shoes. This will cause the piston to fall out of the brake cylinder, leakage of brake fluid and depressurization of the system. Examine the brake drum. Replace it if necessary. - Step 16
Remove the brake shoe adjuster. Use round-nose pliers. - Step 17
Insert the brake shoes adjusting mechanism. Use round-nose pliers. - Step 18
Install new brake pads.
