                      Electronic spray
                    
                      Torque wrench
                    
                      Torx bit T40
                    
                      Ratchet wrench
                    
                      Crow bar
                    
                      Fender cover

Replacement: ignition coil – OPEL ASTRA J Sports Tourer. AUTODOC experts recommend:

The replacement procedure is the same for the ignition coils of all cylinders.
Please note: all work on the car – OPEL ASTRA J Sports Tourer – should be done with the engine switched off.

Carry out replacement in the following order:

Step 1

Open the hood.

Step 2

Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.

Step 3

Remove the engine cover.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: ignition coil – OPEL ASTRA J Sports Tourer. Do not use excessive force when removing the part as this may damage it.
Step 4

Detach the connector from the ignition coil.
Step 5

Unscrew the ignition coil bolts. Use Torx T40. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 6

Pry up the ignition coil. Use a crowbar.

Step 7

Take out the ignition coil from the spark plug well.
Step 8

Clean dirt, dust and debris from inside the spark plug wells.
Step 9

Install the new ignition coil to the spark plug well.
Step 10

Tighten the ignition coil bolts. Use Torx T40. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 7 nm torque.
Step 11

Treat the ignition coil connector with electronic spray. The spray will protect the electrical contacts from corrosion, oxidation, and will reduce the contact resistance.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: ignition coil – OPEL ASTRA J Sports Tourer. After applying the spray, wait a few minutes.
Step 12

Plug in the ignition coil connector.
Step 13

Install the engine cover and secure it.

AUTODOC recommends:
Replacement: ignition coil – OPEL ASTRA J Sports Tourer. Do not use excessive force during installation. This may damage the part.
Step 14

Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.

Step 15

Shut off the engine.

Step 16

Remove the fender protection cover.

Step 17

Close the hood.
