How to change fuel filter MERCEDES-BENZ VITO 1 (W638) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC]
All the parts you need to replace – Fuel Filter for VITO Bus (638) and other MERCEDES-BENZ models
Replacement: fuel filter – Mercedes Vito W638. Tip from AUTODOC:
Ensure adequate ventilation of the workplace. Fuel vapors are poisonous.
Please note: all work on the car – Mercedes Vito W638 – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
Step 1
Open the bonnet.
Step 2
Use a fender protection cover to prevent damaging paintwork and plastic parts of the car.
Step 3
Prepare a container for fluids.
Step 4
Loosen the fastening clamp of the fuel filter pipe. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 5
Disconnect the pipe from the fuel filter.
Step 6
Remove the fuel pressure sensor. Use a crowbar.
Step 7
Unscrew the fastener attaching the fuel supply line to the fuel filter housing. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
AUTODOC recommends:
Be careful! Fuel may leak from the filter housing and hoses.
Step 8
Loosen the fuel filter mounting. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 9
Disconnect the fuel supply lines from the fuel filter.
Step 10
Remove the fuel filter. Put the old filter cartridge in the container.
Step 11
Install a new fuel filter.
Replacement: fuel filter – Mercedes Vito W638. Tip from AUTODOC experts:
Make sure that the fuel filter is positioned correctly. Consider the fuel flow direction mark.During installation, take care to prevent dust and dirt from getting into the fuel filter housing.Attention! Use quality filters – Mercedes Vito W638.
Step 12
Connect the fuel supply lines to the fuel filter.
Step 13
Install the fuel pressure sensor.
Step 14
Attach the pipe to the fuel filter.
Step 15
Screw the fastener attaching the fuel supply line to the fuel filter housing. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 16
Tighten the fastening clamp of the fuel filter pipe. Use a Phillips screwdriver.
Step 17
Tighten the fuel filter fasteners. Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.
Step 18
Press the fuel primer pump several times until it gets hard.
Step 19
Run the engine for a few minutes. This is necessary in order to make sure that the component operates properly.
