Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk IV (E). Tip:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk IV (E) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- Please note: all work on the car – VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk IV (E) – should be done with the engine switched off.
Carry out replacement in the following order:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk IV (E). AUTODOC recommends:To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Spread the brake pads. Use a crowbar.
- Step 7Clean the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 8Unstake the fastener of the driveshaft. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 9Unscrew the fastener connecting the drive shaft to the wheel hub. Use a drive socket #36. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 10Remove the fastening nut.
- Step 11Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 12Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #19. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 13Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk IV (E). Tip from AUTODOC experts:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.
- Step 14Clean the brake disc fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 15Unscrew the brake disc fastening Use Torx T30. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 16Remove the brake disc.
- Step 17Clean all joints of the arm. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 18Unscrew the ball joint fastening to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #16. Use a drive socket #16. Use a tap wrench.
- Step 19Remove the fastening bolt.
- Step 20Clean the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 21Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #17. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 22Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 23Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring. Use a crowbar.
- Step 24Detach the ABS sensor connector.
- Step 25Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a combination spanner #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 26Release the fastener connecting the ball joint to the steering knuckle. Use a flat metal-working chisel. Use a hammer.
- Step 27Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle. Use a crowbar.
- Step 28Detach the driveshaft from the steering knuckle.Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk IV (E). Tip:Make sure that the drive shaft is not unloaded (when the car is jacked).
- Step 29Remove the fastening bolts.Step 30Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut.
- Step 31Remove the steering knuckle together with the hub.
- Step 32Grip the wheel hub together with the bearing in a vice.
- Step 33Remove the wheel hub from the steering knuckle. Use a pin punch. Use a hammer.
- Step 34Pull the bearing inner race out of the wheel hub. Use 3-Arm Gear Puller. Use a bearing separator.
- Step 35Clean the ABS sensor fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 36Unscrew the ABS sensor fastener. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 37Disconnect the ABS sensor. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 38Remove the wheel hub bearing retaining ring. Use a crowbar. Use a hammer.
- Step 39Release the vice and take out the wheel hub together with the bearing.
- Step 40Press out the wheel hub bearing. Use a bush and bearing driver set.
- Step 41Clean the hub bearing mounting seat. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 42Press the new bearing in the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set.Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL CORSAVAN Mk IV (E). AUTODOC recommends:Check to make sure the wheel hub bearing is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment. Stop pressing on the surface of the bearing immediately after it has been fitted into its mounting seat.
- Step 43Install the wheel hub bearing retaining ring. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 44Treat the fasteners of the wheel hub bearing. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 45Install the wheel hub on the steering knuckle. Use a bush and bearing driver set.
- Step 46Install the steering knuckle with a hub in assembly.
- Step 47Connect the ABS sensor.
