Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL ASTRAVAN Mk V (H). AUTODOC experts recommend:
- Do not re-use the bearing assembly of your VAUXHALL ASTRAVAN Mk V (H) car.
- The wheel hub bearing replacement procedure is identical for both wheels on the same axle.
- All work should be done with the engine stopped.
Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL ASTRAVAN Mk V (H). Recommended sequence of steps:
- Step 1Secure the wheels with chocks.
- Step 2Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Use wheel impact socket #17.
- Step 3Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.Step 4Unscrew the wheel bolts.AUTODOC recommends:Important! Hold the wheel while unscrewing the fastening bolts. VAUXHALL ASTRAVAN Mk V (H)
- Step 5Remove the wheel.
- Step 6Clean the brake caliper bracket fasteners. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 7Unscrew the caliper bracket fastening. Use a drive socket #18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 8Remove the fastening bolts (2 pieces).Step 9Remove the brake caliper together with its bracket.Replacement: wheel bearing – VAUXHALL ASTRAVAN Mk V (H). AUTODOC recommends:Tie the caliper to the suspension or to the body with a wire without disconnecting from the brake hose to prevent depressurization of the brake system.Make sure that the brake caliper is not hanging on the brake hose.Don't press the brake pedal after the brake caliper has been removed. As a result, the piston can fall out from the brake cylinder, and brake fluid leakage and depressurization of the system may occur.Check the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper guide pins and boots. Clean them. Replace, if necessary.
- Step 10Disconnect the ABS sensor wiring. Use a flat screwdriver.
- Step 11Detach the ABS sensor connector.
- Step 12Remove the ABS wiring harness bracket.Step 13Clean the brake disc fastener. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.
- Step 14Unscrew the brake disc fastening. Use HEX No.H5. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 15Remove the brake disc.
- Step 16Remove the hub bearing protection cap. Use a crowbar. Use a rubber mallet.Step 17Unscrew the fastener connecting the drive shaft to the wheel hub. Use a drive socket #32. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 18Remove the drive shaft from the wheel hub. Use a rubber mallet.
- Step 19Clean the fastener connecting the tie rod end to the steering knuckle. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 20Unscrew the end fastening nut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #19. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 21Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Use a ball joint puller.
- Step 22Unscrew the wheel hub bolts. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a ratchet wrench.
- Step 23Remove the hub and the bearing together, since they are a sealed unit.
- Step 24Clean the splines of the drive shaft CV joint. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.Step 25Install the new wheel hub with a bearing.
- Step 26Mount the drive shaft into the wheel hub.
- Step 27Tighten the wheel hub bolts. Use a drive socket #E18. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 90 Nm torque.+45°AUTODOC recommends:Important! Be sure to use new fasteners.
- Step 28Attach the ABS sensor connector.
